Nick Puckett workshop

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

A few quick pictures of our setup from a 1.5 day weekend workshop with Nick Puckett of the AA. The premise of the workshop was to input external devices into maya as a new sort of peripheral or design tool with the use of a “make” or “arduino” board. Our take on the assignment involved three pressure sensors, a light sensor and an animatronic pic. Without delving too deep into the process, the pressure sensors were assigned to X or Y translate values of twist, wave and flare deformers in maya. The pig was sort of the overlord of the whole thing, duplicating instances of the geometry as it picked up the proper light levels.  There was supposed to be a few hand cranks involved, but they never made it to complete fruition.  The point was to create a real time collaborative design process that pulled out geometry at random. All in all a pretty productive weekend, will post videos later today. Script and resources available upon request.
