Residual Russia - Louis Koehl
Residual Russia is a proposal for the re-activation of the abandoned ZiL Automotive Factory in Moscow. The project treats the site as a substrate for the development of a new social microcosm amongst the industrial wasteland that surrounds the outer reaches of Moscow. This microcosm is broken down into four programmatically distinct sectors. Each sector is...

Historic Inundation
Long before the Statue of Liberty existed, long before the United States existed, long before even democracy existed, Liberty Island was sitting in the New York Harbor. It was not yet a symbol of freedom, democracy, or welcoming, but it was undoubtedly a key element to New York’s natural history. It sat in the harbor acting as a storm barrier for Manhattan, while supporting a rich and...
An animation briefly describing my final project for Marc Tsurmaki’s GSAPP Studio. The premise of the studio was to rework the program and landscape of Liberty Island in an effort to protect the Statue of Liberty from the threat of rising sea levels.

so, we have been working on designing a museum for most of the semester in studio. for the most part, i have been working digitally, however, after spring break i was finding it difficult to really advance my project in the computer. in order to get a better handle on the spatial composition of my project i began building a physical model. this model is built almost entirely by hand...

Nick Puckett workshop
A few quick pictures of our setup from a 1.5 day weekend workshop with Nick Puckett of the AA. The premise of the workshop was to input external devices into maya as a new sort of peripheral or design tool with the use of a “make” or “arduino” board. Our take on the assignment involved three pressure sensors, a light sensor and an animatronic pic. Without delving too...

Midterm Boards - SciArc
This project is a bus station for the San Francisco bay terminal. The site is located just off the Bay Bridge in SF. Our goal was to create a bus station / fueling hub for the SF bus fleet. The fleet currently runs off of biodiesel, the project aims to create biofuel through the use of algae. The station will not only produce it’s own algae, it will also refine and fuel the buses as...

Midterm Boards…
Our project is the “Museum of Delineation” (nice and vague). Rather than designing a museum, my approach is to design an exploratory landscape upon which new methodologies of museum design can be based… If you are really that interested in my M.O. there is a paragraph on the second board explaining it more in depth.
…had my review on...
I’ve been working in Grasshopper to try and set up a method for modeling interstitial spaces between program blocks in the museum we are designing for studio this semester. I have never used Grasshopper before but I was able to improvise a bit and get some results. Here are some of the nicer configurations (dressed up in Maya).
